The Wallaces at Cotons of Downing Street are excited to share the Coton de Tulear with others. We received our first Coton as a gift from a wonderful breeder in December 2008 and fell in love with this boy right away. Teddy’s beautiful cotton-like hair was so soft, he did not shed, and the Hypo-Allergenic breed was great for us as a family with allergies! At the time, we lived in New York where there was lots of snow. Teddy loved the snow and would play outside with the kids for hours on end. We have always had multiple dogs at a time and he fit right in with the whole family. When we moved back home to Florida a few years ago we began talking about breeding Cotons. After much research about this rare breed, we were so excited to start our breeding program in 2013. We are a small breeder with just one boy and four girls. We are not a kennel— all our dogs are part of our family. They can usually be found at our feet, on the couch, or in our beds. We now live in the Tampa Bay Area in the country setting of Dover where our dogs have lots of room to run and play, and where they love swimming with us as much as Teddy loved playing in the snow. We are blessed with a large family. 12 of our 14 children are adopted—6 from the U.S. and 6 from West Africa. We have a few avid animal lovers that are very excited about our breeding program. Our family also includes a cockatiel and chickens (lots of good fresh eggs for our big family!)
